St Mary’s Church Bocking – Image of the Week

This is a photograph taken of Helen and Lee’s wedding a couple of years ago. They were married at St Mary Church in Bocking followed by a wedding reception at the Bocking Village Club. They were a really lovely couple, brilliant to work with.

I remember it well, the wedding was in fact on the 11th of November at 4.00 pm in the afternoon and there was very little, if any natural daylight left.

I remember they had planned it for this time in the hope of having a candle lit ceremony, sadly this was not to be I think health and safety regulations would have prohibited the sheer number of candles required to light such a large (and very beautiful) church.

What it did mean thought was that I had to rely heavily on the use of flash photography. I think that is undoubtedly one of the things I really love about this shot and why I have chosen it as my image of the week.

I think the focus of the light on Helen and the natural vignette from the dark surroundings give the scene a bit of a Hollywood feel. Very much enhanced  by the chauffer driven Rolls Royce. Reminds me of a movie scene with a glamourous Hollywood actress getting out of a chauffeur driven car.

Helen & Lee loved it, as they did all of their images. What do you think? Please feel free to leave a message below.
