It was a great privilege for me to photograph the wedding of Joy and Sam at the fantastic wedding venue of Hedingham Castle in Castle Hedingham and at The White Hart in Great Yeldham, both only a short distance from each other in wonderful north Essex. Both delightful historic buildings and both fantastic for beautiful wedding photography.
For those of you that follow my blog you will know that I did a pre wedding photo shoot with Joy and Sam only a few weeks before the wedding. They are a fantastic couple who only live a short distance away in Halstead. Sam in particular is quite a character with his Mohican haircut, goatee beard and his pierced ears. He had his hair done especially for the wedding (as you would expect) in striking pink and black and with matching cravats and handkerchiefs.
I started the day by Photographing Joy together with her bridesmaids who were all busy drinking tea and eating biscuits whilst getting ready in the bridal suite at The White Hart. It was also great opportunity to take some detail shots including photographing her dress, jewellery, perfume and her very impressive shoes. (See the first picture)
I then went off to Hedingham Castle where I met up with Sam, his Best Man Luke and his groomsmen to take some photographs before the wedding ceremony. They were all a great bunch of lads, up for a laugh and very cool about having their photograph taken.
Sam’s occupation is a bus driver and he had hired a beautiful big old red bus (not sure what the proper tilt should be) to convey all the guests between the White Hart and the castle.
Joy arrived on time in a beautiful silver Jaguar, together with her dad and she looked absolutely fantastic – stunning in fact, in her wedding dress and with her flame red hair. After a short discussion with the registrar and her bridesmaids outside, her dad escorted her in to the castle for the start of the wedding ceremony.
Following the ceremony, the Joy and Sam mingled with guests and posed for photographs in front of the castle. They then had a short but romantic walk alongside the lake whilst sipping chilled Champaign, before hoping on the last bus, along with their guest for the trip back to The White Hart.
The rest of the day was brilliant and everything seemed to run very smoothly. The formal group shots, guests enjoying themselves, some special time with Joy and Sam together with their gorgeous little daughter Lydia, the line up for the wedding breakfast, the cutting of the cake etc and of course I photographed them all.
Joy and Sam were a dream to work with and throughout the day we got some beautiful shots. I particularly like the window light portraits taken of Joy and her bridesmaids at the White Hart and romantic shots of Joy and Sam down by the lake at Hedingham Castle
