It was a great joy recently for me to photograph the wedding of Emma and Andrew at Castle Hedingham in north Essex.
I started the day by Photographing Emma at her parents’ house in nearby Gosfield, She spent the morning there being pampered and having her hair and makeup done along with her three delightful bridesmaids, Sarah, Nikki and Charlotte. It was great to work in Gosfield because, as you may know it happens to where I live and for me was just a short walk down the road.
The wedding itself was held at St Nicholas’s church in the centre of Castle Hedingham village and it was here that I met up with Andrew, his Best Man Richard and his groomsmen Bob and Adam, to take some photographs before the wedding ceremony. They were all a great bunch of lads, up for a laugh and very cool about having their photograph taken. As a photographer I love it when people are relaxed and natural whilst in front of the camera.
Emma arrived at the church in a vintage wedding car and she looked absolutely fantastic – stunning in fact, in her wedding dress. After a short discussion with the vicar and her bridesmaids outside, her dad, Steve, escorted her in to the church for the start of the wedding ceremony. As you will see from some of the photographs St Nicholas’s is a fantastic old church, very grand, very beautiful and is definitely worth a visit.
Emma and Andrew are a fantastic couple from Sible Hedingham also in Essex and for those of you that follow my blog you will know we did a pre wedding photo shoot, in Castle Hedingham in April this year.
Following the wedding ceremony, the bride and groom mingled with guests and posed for photographs outside the church. They were then driven slowly through the village, followed by the guests, to Hedingham Castle where they held the wedding reception.
The day of the wedding was gorgeous, the sun was shining, the sky was blue and I’m pretty sure the birds were singing too. The gardens at Hedingham castle are fantastic and from their elevated position give a fantastic view of the lake below. It’s a perfect location to take some stunning photographs.
Emma and Andrew were a dream to work with and throughout the day we got some beautiful shots. I particularly like the natural light portraits taken on the bridge in front of the castle and the shots taken using video light on the stairs in the main hall.
I have produced a selection of photographs below –

Hedingham Castle is an excellent wedding venue situated in the beautiful village of Castle Hedingham in rural north Essex. It’s easy travelling distance from Colchester and Chelmsford and is also close to the Suffolk border.
