The 2014 Tour de France

The 2014 Tour de France was the 101st edition of the Tour de France It started on 5 July in Leeds, England and concluded on 27 July in Paris France.

This was the first time the race had started or in fact been run in the UK. I was fortunate enough to see it on day three when it ran from Cambridge to London and passed through various villages close to me in north Essex.

I actually saw it in Wethersfield, my wife and I rode out there in the morning to see it come through around lunchtime. The village and surrounding roads were packed and there was very much a carnival type atmosphere.

Here are a few photos I took on the day.

The gendarmerie lead the way, the bikes follow soon

The two lead cyclists arrive in the village

The main pack begins to make its way through the village

Slow progress as the roads get narrow in Wethersfield village centre
