Wedding at St James the Less Little Tey
I have so many wonderful memories of this wedding. First of all the bride and groom Rachael & Ben are such a lovely couple and brilliant to work with, I actually first found this out when I did a pre wedding photo shoot with them some months beforehand at Castle Park in Colchester, you can see the shoothere, that was the very first time I met them.
Rachael is the daughter of an ex work colleague of mine and so it was good to catch up with him at the wedding but also to see and feel the emotion he exuded as he walked his daughter down the aisle.
And what an isle that was! Another memory from that day was to see the inside of such a wonderful church, ‘St James the Less’ in Little Tey, with its beautifully restored medieval wall paintings, if you are interested in churches, old buildings or art then it’s definitely worth a visit.
Another ‘buzz’ on the day was the ‘celebratory’ status of one of the ushers. He either owned or part owned an old world war two tank over in Hertfordshire, which at the time was being used for filming some of the block buster film Fury and he personally had been instructing Brad Pitt on how to drive a tank. (Despite this insider knowledge I only actually watched the film a couple of weeks ago).
I have never photographed a wedding where quite so many of the guests had such fancy (high end) cameras, some of them I’m sure better (or at least more expensive) than mine. Fortunately this didn’t prove too distracting for Rachael & Ben who knew when to engage with me and when to give to others. I’m sure at times though onlookers must have thought it was a celebrity wedding with hordes of paparazzi style photographs lining the way. (Rachael & Ben were celebrities of course – but you know what I mean).
The reception was held at The White Hart Hotel in Great Yeldham in their amazing Wedding Barn. It was a glorious day with lots of sunshine and the whole day was a joy to photograph.
