A few weeks back I photographed an assignment for the children’s charity Brainwave. This was a very enjoyable very exciting morning because it also involved Eastenders actress Cheryl Fergison, who as you all know played the role of Heather Trott.
We met at the Chislehurst Golf Club in Kent a beautiful golf club with a magnificent richly decorated Clubhouse, also known as Camden Place. (A beautiful Kent wedding venue)
The reason for the shoot? Well, the cast of Eastenders had all signed an Albert Square street sign and it was agreed that this could be given to the Brainwave charity to help raise funds. (Most probably as a grand raffle prize or else by way of auction – it has yet to be decided). The idea then was to get some great publicity shots of Cheryl handing over the sign to Gerry Gould Brainwave’s Community Manager at the SE Centre in Witham.
It was also a great opportunity for Cheryl to learn something about the wonderful work carried out by of Brainwave, she certainly expressed a lot of interest and promised to visit the centre at Witham.
Cheryl was accompanied by her friend Christine and was also joined by Steve Whale and his family. Steve I believe knows Cheryl through work, he facilitated the meeting at the golf club and he also is a great supporter of Brainwave.
A bit about Brainwave
Brainwave offers home based therapy to children aged from 6 months -12 years of age who have Development Delay and disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy, Down’s Syndrome and Autism. After a two-day Initial Assessment the therapists devise a structured exercise therapy Programme to suit the individual needs of each child. They then show the parents how to do this therapy at home. They also offer advice and support to families in any way they can.
