Visit to Stow Maries WW1 Aerodrome in Essex. On the 11th September I was invited to a breakfast in the old officers mess at Stow Maries Aerodrome, (it was delicious). I went there with a group of old work collegues and it was fantastic to see them again and to catch up. Following the breakfast we had a guided tour of the aerodrome and then at 1100 attended a memorial service on the airfield to

Landscape Photography The Yorkshire Dales - Appletreewick

The Yorkshire Dales – Appletreewick. My wife and I recently went on a brilliant short walking holiday in the Yorkshire Dales. We went with a company called HF Holidays and stayed at Newfield Hall in Malhamdale, I have to say it was first class; nice accommodation, lovely food and brilliant company. During our stay we did two guided walks in small groups of about 12 people, the first walk we did was around ten miles

How to photograph a Silhouette

Photographing a Silhouette. Silhouettes can make extremely dramatic photographs, using shape and sometimes vibrant or saturated colour to tell a story. Photographers use them to convey drama, mystery or mood in an image. It’s usually the case that the more defined the shape is the more powerful the silhouette and the more successful the image will be. A silhouetted subject can show some detail, however the less detail that’s visible will add more drama to

Natural Light Photography - Kentwell Hall

The beauty and splendour of natural window light. Last weekend I visited Kentwell Hall in Long Melford Suffolk, it was one of their re-enactment days, a May Day celebration when they were all dressed and acting in a Tudor style, or as ‘Kentwell’ put it, ‘visitors immerse themselves in the sights, sounds and smells of the 16th Century’ It really was a great atmosphere and a wonderful day, but I guess what impressed me the

Landscape Photography at Woodbridge Quay – Suffolk. Have been spending a bit of time developing my landscape photography and particularly liked this shot of the Quay at Woodbridge in Suffolk. It was taken a cold wet wintery day last January. I have given it a bit of a fine art look by ‘playing’ with textures in post-production. Please let me know what you think. Thank you for viewing this post, if you enjoyed it please

Pet Photography

Pet Photography Although I mainly photograph weddings and portraits I do also get asked to photograph people’s pets, which I actually enjoy very much. This was a King Charles spaniel (I think I have that right) from Earls Colne, it was such a well behaved cute little dog and I managed to get some great photos, this is one of my favourites. If you have a favourite pet and you would like me to shoot
