Beautiful & Dramatic Blue Sky over Gosfield

Another photograph I thought I would share with you. This was taken whilst out on a walk with my wife Kate, son Nick and dog Bo’. We were actually walking from Halstead along public footpaths back to our home in Gosfield.

The sky looked so fantastic that I just had to capture it and just had to let it be dominant within the scene. To do this I  let them walk ahead of me up this small hill, this helped to eliminate any distracting background  such as trees and hedges whilst at the same time introducing other  elements, people, to compliment the sky and make the whole photograph more balanced and interesting.

The area where I live in North Essex has some beautiful country side a wonderful location for taking great photographs.

A Christmas Wedding at The Fennes.

The Fennes is without doubt  one of my favourite wedding venues, it has so much to offer the bride and groom, as well as guests,  both inside the house as well as outside and around the gardens. It has some excellent photographic opportunities and as a bonus it’s very close to my home.

It was real joy therefore to photograph Samantha and Andy’s wedding there back in December. Samantha or ‘Sam’ as she also likes to be called and Andy are from Braintree and I first met them at their home just a few months before the wedding.

They had looked for a local Braintree wedding photographer via the web site Free Index and by all accounts had a received a massive response. So it was really nice for me that I was the one they arranged to see and I was the one they booked (cue nice warm glow). Apparently they had been very impressed with my images and warmed to me as a person.

As an aside, I actually think it’s very important for the bride and groom and the wedding photographer to meet prior to booking – it’s important that they get on, understand each other and work well together.)

Something else I must tell you about Sam, she is the first bride I know who made her own wedding shoes!!

Having got on so well with them at our first meeting it was a massive pleasure to see them again on the day of the wedding; They were both brilliant and despite it being in the middle of  winter and just a few days before Christmas we had a beautiful day with some very welcome sunshine.

Enjoy the photos.

A few days ago I was re organising images on my computer and came across a cute selection of our dog, Bo’. Her full name is actually Boudicca a beautiful black and tan Cockapoo.

They were taken when she was only a few months old, it was her very first winter and we had absolutely loads of snow, not like this year, hardly any at all.

Anyway I thought the photos looked so cute I would share a few of them with you.

I love taking photographs  as you know Tony Sale Photography specialises in Essex wedding photography but when I’m not doing that I spend a lot of time photographing family and friends, including Bo!

A couple of days ago I went to The Photography Show up at the NEC in Birmingham. This was an inaugural event, the very first ‘The Photography Show’ ever which was established after the closing of ‘Focus’ (Focus on Imaging) last year.

It’s basically a huge photography show with lectures, training, demonstrations and exhibitions by over 200 brands including Nikon, Hasselblad, Canon and many many more.

It had a lot to offer photography enthusiasts as well as seasoned professionals like myself. All the latest, gadgets and innovations as well as a plethora of albums, frames, studio props, lighting systems, work flow systems and software, you name they had it.

Although I didn’t actually buy anything it was a great opportunity to catch up on all the latest stuff and to mix with other photographers. Above all else though it was very inspiring, just to see some of the great work other people are doing and some of the unique ideas other people are using made me come back and want to get out and shoot even more!

Perhaps one of the very best stands  – Nikon. I have to say that being a very keen Nikon user.

My wife and I always like to put food out for the birds, especially at this time of year and just recently we purchased a new feeder as the old one had broken. I decided this was a great opportunity to changes its location slightly so that it might be easier to photograph our little feathered friends.

I also wanted to photograph them in relative comfort and so managed to find a nice branch in the front garden fairly close to our lounge window. This turned out to be ideal as was able to open the window and then clip the curtains around my lens and remain completely obscured from view. (and of course have a nice cup of tea close by!)

By using a shallow depth of field and carefully angling the camera I was able to keep out any detraction from passing traffic and have a nice out of focus hedge to provide a pleasant background.

The position of the feeder also meant that birds could land on branches nearby before hoping down to feed.
